Rules and regulation

The Triathlon Cesenatico, which will be run on Sprint distance and Olympic distance, will take place following the guidelines of the Technical Regulations of the Italian Triathlon Federation.

MAXIMUM TIMES (TO STAY IN THE RACE)
SPRINT – 30 minutes Swim – swim 80 minutes Bike – total time 120 minutes
OLYMPIC - 60 minutes Swim – Swim 160 minutes Bike – total time 240 minutes

1. GENERAL INFORMATION
a) The race distances are as follows:
-Olympic1.5 km swim, 40 km cycle and 10 km run;
-Sprint 0.750 km swim, 20 km cycle and 5 km run.
b) The competitors must observe for the whole duration of the race, directions indicated by the judges, police officers, and respect the code of the road.
c) Whoever disrespects these rules will be disqualified from the race by the race stewards, you have the possibility to finish the race, this gives you the chance to appeal to the Commission motivating your own grievances, following the official appeal procedure.
d) Please observe and respect all rules and regulations during the entire route, considering it entirely open to the public and to vehicles. In fact, even if some sections will be closed to vehicular traffic, keep in mind that residents, emergency vehicles and vehicles connected to the event could transit. So the traffic rules must be respected and keep to the right.
e) Triathlon Cesenatico is an Event by invitation only, the organizers can refuse the entry of any competitor’s for any reason, without providing any explanation. No change will be accepted beyond the 1st of September. The medical team of the Event will have the final say regarding the fitness to compete.
f) It is forbidden to use substances that can improve performance, reduce fatigue or for any other purpose. Drug tests will be made .It is essential that all competitors observe proper behaviour and have a sporting attitude, turning with courtesy and respect towards the other competitors, organisers, volunteers and staff, under penalty of exclusion from the race at any time: before, during or after the event.
g) If a competitor drops out of the contest, must inform immediately the judges. In the absence of communication, and security is set to find the athlete and the athlete is in the hotel or in safe, the athlete must cover the cost of the rescue activities.
h) Triathlon Cesenatico reserves the right to change the program rules, regulations, and the places of the event at any time. Athletes will be notified of the changes before the event, always in the interest of safety of the competitor.
s) it is forbidden the use of headphones during the race, the punishment will be the disqualification. It is forbidden to compete shirtless. Each competitor must be familiar with the entire route and it is your responsibility to recognize and follow the correct route. Any complaints must be submitted in writing to the Judge-arbiter by the athlete of the race within 30 minutes of exposure of the list of athletes disqualified. The complaint must be accompanied by a deposit of €50.00 (€25.00 for athletes under 19).
j) if the claim is accepted, the deposit will be totally refunded. If the complaint is not accepted, the deposit will not be refunded. In case of bad weather, Triathlon Cesenatico reserves the right to convert the event into duathlon, always in the interests of safety of the competitor, in this case no registration fee will be refunded.
k) Triathlon Cesenatico, at its own discretion, test any athlete for Drug Test. A positive Test will lead to disqualification. The prize money applies only to the test individual men and women. The prizes will be conferred on the basis of their position in the overall standings
l) Cash prizes that exceed €500 euros are subject to Italian tax by law. Bank charges shall be on competitors charge. Athletes who compete individually must have reached 18 years of age on the day of the race . The race numbers that are provided must be visible at all times during the race. All athletes must register in time defined and participate at the compulsory briefing.
m) All individuals and teams must fix the bikes during the indicated times – there will be no exceptions to this rule. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify anyone who does not respect rules.

2. PARTICIPATION

Participation in the Olympic Distance Triathlon Cesenatico is open to all men and women athletes FITRI (Italian Triathlon Federation) or other foreign competition membership in order with the Federation for the current year, starting from the age of 18 years, that is, for the Junior, Under 23, Senior, Master, Elite. Participation as "Daily Card-Carrying", is planned. For non-members, to validate and confirm the daily licence, it is compulsory to submit the medical certificate for racing use (copy) bearing the words "Triathlon" among the sports practiced.

The Race Pack could possibly vary in the coming months.
The Race Pack includes: Bib – Helmet and Bike number – headset – promotion material – technical gadgets – ticket Pasta Party – Briefing.
6. SWIMMING RULES
a) Compulsary equipment includes a wetsuit and Swim Cap (the Swim CAP will be provided). This arrangement can be changed during the briefing depends on sea conditions, temperature and length of the race (at the total discretion of the organizers).
b) it is forbidden to use flippers, snorkels, paddles, flotation devices of any kind. It is allowed the use swimming goggles. Any help required while swimming can lead to disqualification. Anyone seen swimming without colorful Swim Cap could incur to disqualification.
c) the Organisers reserve the right to change the route of the swimming competition, the distance of the route or cancel the race, taking into consideration of the weather forecast and the temperature of the sea.
7. CYCLING RULES
a) The race numbers should not be changed in size or appearance, and must be worn on the back during the race. Only homologated helmets are accepted. Helmets must be well buckled before removing the bike from the bicycle carrier and vice versa must remain buckled untill the cyclist puts the bike back to the bicycle carrier.
b) No help is permitted, the cycling route is closed to supporters, no competitor can ask or recieve help from outsiders, audience or any other members.
c) Every participant is responsable of their own bike, the bikes must be maintained and in safety conditions.
d) Assistance by people that are not part of the Official Staff will be reason for immediate disqualification. It is forbidden to change wheels or bike, each participant must be able to handle any mechanical malfunction.
e) All bicycles must be inspected by the official support of the Event or at the moment of check-in. Only the bikes passed controlled will be accepted.
f) Cyclists are required to listen to the directions and instructions of all race officials and public authorities.
g) Participants if necessary can continue on foot with their bikes.
h) Competitors must keep to the right as much as possible and let the others takeover on the left respecting all traffic laws, road rules and instructions of the Staff and the police.
i) The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify those who do not complete the bike stage within the time limit.
j) the Organisers reserve the right to modify the cycling route or the distance of the cycling route taking into consideration the route and weather forecast.
8. RACING RULES
a) Competitors must not alter the size of the race number, and must carry it clearly on the front.
b) slower competitors must keep to the right to allow other competitors to overtake on the left. Riders must always remain within the cones and traffic barrier. Runners who cross the cones and the traffic barrier will be immediately disqualified.
c) is not allowed any individual support vehicle, unescorted outside the race and no cyclist in tow.
d) friends, family, coaches or supporters of any kind cannot approach the competitor by bike or car, cannot hand over food or other items to competitors and should be warned not to approach the participants to avoid disqualification. The runners are required to follow the directions and instructions of all judges and public authorities.
e) help from outsiders is forbidden: fines for this offence are at the discretion of the referee and judges
f) f) competitors must comply with the legislation relating to traffic, road rules and notices of race and police officials.
g) the Organisers reserve the right to disqualify participants who do not complete the race within the time limit.
h) the Organisers reserve the right to change the route or the distance of the race considering the route and weather conditions.
9. MAXIMUM TIME
To consent all athletes to race in the most safe way as possible, the organizers have decided to set a maximum time limit per fraction beyond which the athletes will be stopped and deprived of the bib of the race. If the athlete wants to continue the race, the Organizers will not guarantee any kind of service during and after the race.
The time limit for the race on the Olympic distance are as follows:
- Swimming: 60 min.
– Swimming and Bike (total): 160 min.
– Swimming, cycling and running (total): 240 min.

Swim and bike times relate to when the athlete comes out of the changing area (and are calculated from the departure of the last battery).
The time limit for the race on Sprint distance are as follows:
- Swimming: 30 min
– Swimming and Bike (total): 80 min.
– Swimming, cycling and running (total): 120 min.

11. RELAY
The relay can be composed of only male athletes, only female athletes or can be mixed (male and female). The leaderboard and prizes will be linked to the leaderboard of the team and not on how the team is composed.
The Athletes participating at the Relay should follow the general race rules and respect the following rules:
- For each Relay only one chronometric chip will be provided which will have to be passed and worn on the ankle by each team member.
- The second and third team member will have to wait for the anchor-man at the changing area, wait untill the team mate joins you and holds you over the chip that has to be worn on your anckle.
- For the switch from cycling to the runner, the cyclist must first of all place the bike and helmet in their own space and then hand out the chip to the runner that must be worn on the ankle.
- If these rules are not respected the consequences will go from a warning to an eventual disqualification of the team.
